Special articles are market-ready finished/end products that fall outside the normal scope for OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD. As a prerequisite for testing and certification, the product must contain significant leather components, e.g. e.g. suitcases, sofas, helmets, saddles etc. These components must fall within the application area of OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD and can be tested accordingly.

For effective protection: 4 product classes

The OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD laboratory tests for harmful substances are based on the intended use. The more intensive the skin contact and the more sensitive the skin, the stricter the requirements for human ecology.

Product Class 1
Products for babies and toddlers - the strictest requirements and limit values.

Product Class 2
Products with direct skin contact, such as leather shoes.

Product Class 3
Products without direct skin contact, such as leather belts.

Product Class 4
Furnishing materials and other decoration materials, such as leather sofas.
